Contrary to some opinions that young consumers are “newsless,” Millennials are actively keeping up with what’s going on in the world—just in different ways from previous generations. A survey by the American Press Institute found that 64% say they keep up with the news, and it’s their most frequent online activity after checking emails and catching up with friends. Ypulse has found that staying informed about social issues has taken on a new cultural importance: 66% of 13-32-year-olds feel like they need to know what is happening in global news to keep up with conversation.
