Millions of Millennials and teens are following “a collective regular cast of beautiful strangers who grow integral to our daily routines” and provide aspirational fixations for unattainable perfection. But gazing at perfect photos of someone’s perfect life can also fill users with a sense of envy and “crappy feelings.” Regardless, this “lifestyle stalking” phenomenon has become a modern version of escapism.
