For college students, taking care of necessities can be inconvenient and expensive, a topic we explored in our interview with the creator of Occupy the Bookstore. With a reported $10.3 billion spent in college bookstores every year, Amazon is seizing the opportunity to experiment with their own student initiative: Amazon Campus. The program, which has launched with three large universities, creates co-branded websites selling textbooks and other student-desired items, from toothpaste to ramen, that are available on Amazon. On-campus distribution centers allow students to pick up orders from code-activated lockers or Amazon employees. Amazon is already offering their Amazon Student Prime members unlimited next day delivery for $49, hoping to secure the next generation of shoppers. (WSJ)
