In our post rounding up the big trends that shaped the social media landscape in 2014, we included the recurring news story that teens are leaving or killing Facebook. We concluded that Facebook is far from dead with the age group, but that its dominance is certainly in danger. Here’s a take on why teens leaving the site might not matter at all: Facebook’s acquisitions WhatsApp, Instagram, and even virtual headset Oculus Rift are “ideally suited for today’s teens.” Instagram has one of the youngest demographics of any social media platform.
