U.K. retailer John Lewis’ Christmas ads are highly anticipated heartstring pullers, and this year’s ad is not only a great example of Tissue Box Marketing and storytelling, it’s also a mini-franchise. The spot, which has been viewed almost 11 million times since being posted November 6th, tells the sweet story of a young boy, his friend Monty the Penguin, and what happens when the boy realizes Monty might want to find true love for the holidays. John Lewis has also created Monty merchandise, including stuffed toys, which have already sold out online, and a children’s book called Monty’s Christmas. (Fast Company, Daily Mail)
