MTV hits Teen Mom and 16 and Pregnant were at first criticized by some for “glamorizing” teen pregnancy, but as teen pregnancy rates have fallen to record lows, it became clear that their influence has not been as negative as expected. Now, a new study has found that the shows may have actually helped to reduce teen birth rates, as pregnancy rates were falling faster for teens in areas where the show was being watched than those where it was not.
