By now, many networks employ hashtags during broadcasts in an attempt to encourage second screen engagement. But last night, NBC put Twitter in the spotlight in a whole new way: during the final minutes of “The Voice,” viewers were given five minutes to save a singer with a low number of votes by tweeting the name of the artists with the hashtag #VoiceSave. The live voting on the network resulted in high Twitter Nielsen ratings and added a “new energy” to the competition. (MediaPost)
