Growing up in a working class home has inflicted many Millennials with “hidden injuries,” struggling to forge stable adult lives and isolated by distrust of family, schools, and corporations. Only 20% of men and women between 18 and 29 are married, since many are jumping from job to job, only able to take care of themselves, much less a significant other or family. Though their situation is strained, these Gen Ys are determined to make it on their own, saying, “No one else is going to fix me but me.” (NYT)
