In lieu of recent media attention regarding Millennials as the most stressed generation, NYTimes covers stress in a different light by comparing students’ who experience anxiety differently. Researchers claim that a genetic component: one particular gene, the COMT gene, could to a large degree explain why one child is more prone to be a worrier. The COMT gene carries an enzyme that clears dopamine from the prefrontal cortex; a part of the brain where we plan, make decisions, anticipate future consequences and resolve conflicts. (NY Times)
