After 40+ years, Barbie is finally putting her longtime Malibu Dreamhouse on the market. In an attempt to revitalize profit margins, Mattel is rethinking the ad model to promote Barbie's new home (in reality, a playset) that will come out in the fall, perfect timing for the 2013 Christmas shopping season. Mattel is truly blurring the boundaries between reality and fantasy by listing the Dreamhouse on an actual real estate website and cross-promoting with Bravo by “hiring” Josh Altman, a cast member of “Million Dollar Listing: Los Angeles” while also hiring Jonathan Adler to design Barbie's new digs.
