YPulse’s bi-annual Media Consumption report shows that the allure of TV series is undeniable among the majority of Gen Z. It’s their most-watched video content, after movies, surprisingly leaving social media on the back burner (though we know social content effects their TV choices). For teens and young adults, long runners Stranger Things and Grey’s Anatomy have been amongst their top faves for some time now. But YPulse data shows new shows are very likely to catch their attention, and last year Max’s The Last of Us adaption shot into number one. This year, newer shows like Percy Jackson and the Olympians and Abbot Elementary were driven into the top ranking thanks to targeting young audience preferences. With access to shows spanning every era, including those predating their own, young Gen Z exhibits a nostalgic penchant for TV they grew up with.
