Buying dupes has been the shopping trend of the year, thanks to Gen Z and Millennials. YPulse’s new The Dupe Mindset trend report shows two thirds of European 13-39-year-olds have already purchased one—but this is not the case among young French consumers. Some cultural differences explain why young French people aren’t buying dupes the way their peers are across the region, which are key for brands to be thinking about when marketing. In France, luxury brands are well respected for their know-how and craftsmanship, even amongst the budget-conscious youth. These consumers have high regard for the quality of their products in general, meaning they’re less attracted to replicas. French youth aren’t entirely disinterested in the dupe trend, though.
