McDonald’s is now selling fish and chips in France as part of its new range of “street food,” which launched alongside a short film and promotional drawing. Though fish and chips is quintessentially British, the dish is part of McDonald’s’ new France-exclusive “Street & Dips” offering, promoting eating on the go. The “P’tit Fish & Chips” comes in a cardboard cone designed for hands-free eating, which McDonald’s made clear in an ad that follows a man walking in the city with his food in one hand and phone in the other. To promote the new dish (soon to be followed by the “P’tit Chicken & Fries”), the fast food giant is offering up 40 pairs of exclusive McDonald’s sneakers, which customers can win through a digital challenge because, as McDonald’s’ Paris exec puts it, “what could be more emblematic than sneakers to promote nomadism and street culture?” (Adweek)
