Maximalism is the next home trend taking over during quarantine.

Oct 22 2020

Maximalism is the next home trend taking over during quarantine. YPulse found that 61% of 13-39-year-olds have become more interested in decorating and furnishing their home—and new home design trends are beginning to emerge. After years of minimalism ruling design, maximalism is beginning to trend, as people look for “more lived-in, colorful places where you’d actually want to spend time.” The aesthetic means decorating to the point of excess—and even ugliness—with “overstuffed, farish, and glorious” furniture and decor that is often random and mismatched. Squiggles and freeform blobs in decor that are popping up on Instagram, and cluttered displays of collections like “Goblincore” and “grandmillennial” are going viral. (Vox, VICE)
