“With me” videos are trending on YouTube. Along with quarantine vlogs, YouTubers are documenting themselves doing crafts and taking on home-based activities in videos tagged #withme. While this kind of video has been around since 2007, content with this tag in the title has increased 600% since March 15th, while uploads of videos with “at home” have increased more than 590% since social distancing began. Of the two, titles like “cook with me,” “work out at home” and “home office” have seen their daily views grow by up to 200%. YouTube has also been asking creators to encourage young viewers to stay home using the hashtag #StayHome while offering curated “with me” playlists. We found that YouTube has grown an “astronomical” amount among young viewers during the Coronavirus crisis. (The Verge)
