Researchers are drawing a link between teen cannabis use and depression in young adults. According to a study published in JAMA Psychiatry, 7% of adolescent depression cases could be avoided if teens stopped using cannabis. Researchers estimate that there would be 400,000 fewer depression diagnoses of 18-34-year-olds in the U.S., 25,000 in Canada, and 60,000 in Britain. They conclude that marijuana is one of the most commonly-used drugs by teens and “[a]dolescents should be made aware of the risk.” (Reuters)
