Teens are using memes as “protest art.” Cause-driven Gen Z & Millennials are using memes to make a statement and call out politicians, policies, and socio-political injustices at the speed of the internet. Some are spurred by real-life images, like the countless spin-offs of Melania Trump’s contentious “I really don’t care do you?” jacket while others give new meaning to older memes by remixing text or images.
