The FDA has set their sights on Juul Labs Inc.—the producer of an e-cigarette that has become a status symbol among teens. The startup has captured almost half the e-cigarette category, according to a Wells Fargo analysis of Nielsen sales data, and many say it’s the Juul device’s resemblance to a USB flash drive, and the Juul liquid’s range of flavors and high dose of nicotine that is attracting young users. The FDA aims to find out more, requesting “documents on [Juul Labs Inc.] marketing, as well as on its research on health effects, and whether design features and ingredients appeal to specific age groups.” (The Wall Street Journal)
