More teens are using social media than ever, and yes, Snapchat is their top platform. Common Sense found that the percentage of teens that use social media multiple times a day doubled from 34% to 70% in the past five years, and smartphone ownership skyrocketed from 41% to 89%. And while 68% said Facebook was their main platform in 2012, only 15% rank it as their go-to today. Teens were much more likely to say Snapchat is their main social media tool, followed by Instagram.
