Harmful gender stereotypes are officially banned in U.K.

Harmful gender stereotypes are officially banned in U.K. ads. The Committees of Advertising Practice is banning any “problematic” marketing. That doesn’t mean they can’t show “gender-typical roles;” instead, commercials that suggest a certain gender are only capable of a certain role are off-limits, as are any that belittle someone for performing gender-typical tasks. Ypulse data suggests it’s about time: 58% of 18-35-year-olds say that ads don’t do a good job portraying their gender, rising to 72% among Millennial females.
