A Millennial may never get to live alone. According to a Trulia analysis, Millennials are often paying a larger percentage of their income towards rent than the average renter across cities. For example, Miami renters pay almost 50% of their income towards rent, while a Millennial renter in that city often pays 54%. To offset costs, young people are either staying at home with family or seeking out roommates, which can save a typical U.S. renter an average of 13%. According to Trulia, until Millennials can pay off student loans and find good paying jobs, “many will continue to rely on roommates to save on housing costs.” (MarketWatch)
