Gen Z has a new “favorite” app and it has them posting like it’s 2010. Posting2 is being described as “underground Instagram,” and like its predecessor, it shows users a feed of square images shared by others. Unlike modern-day Insta, Posting2 shows posts in chronological order, and feeds aren’t cluttered by celebrity or suggested accounts. Some users are treating it as a Finsta or Close Friends alt, sharing casual, unposed pics or memes with a smaller circle of friends they know will actually see them on Posting2. The app’s growth has been organic, with 8K downloads in September thanks to word-of-mouth. YPulse’s only word of caution: while it’s great to experiment with new apps to reach young consumers, “fast-growing” doesn’t always mean “here to stay.” That said, we know Gen Z has been craving escapes from their algorithms, and the growth of apps like Posting2 shows many are interested in trying something new.
