Wendy’s says, “It’s not a phase, Mom!”

Wendy’s says, “It’s not a phase, Mom!” The brand noticed a resurgence in emo culture—particularly among young people discovering it for the first time—and hopped on the opportunity to be part of the soundtrack. Their new six-song album Songs to Listen to in the Wendy’s Parking Lot was written by Matt Squire, who’s written and produced for top pop artists and, on theme, Panic! at the Disco. The songs are also sung by notable names in the punk genre, like the lead singers of metalcore band Blessthefall on “The Best Combo Meal on the Worst Night of My Life” and pop-punk band State Champs on “It’s Not a Phase, It’s a 10pc.” (Blast from the past for anyone else?) Even the cover is classic Warped Tour aesthetic, featuring a lone red car in a dim Wendy’s lot with the title written in scratchy letters. The album release announcement came paired with a fitting rebrand on socials, too: the Wendy’s logo got deep side part fringe and thick black eyeliner. (USA Today)
