The National Trust is getting a Gen Z membership boost.

The National Trust is getting a Gen Z membership boost. The British conservation charity says membership among 18-25-year-olds rose 26% last year compared to 2024, with more than 50K new members joining—bringing their total number of Gen Z members to 90K. The growth is, in part, thanks to Gen Z’s growing interest in nature, history, and all things outdoors. (Hello, birdwatching!) The National Trust has been leaning into that interest across their social channels, helping introduce their historic sites and natural spaces to younger audiences. It seems to be working, as the charity says their social success has even opened doors to international audiences, including Gen Z in the U.S. The online exposure may also be fueling “set-jetting”—a trend of young people visiting destinations they discover on social media.
