Brands are showing up at the state fair. While major events like music festivals and sports games are the places everyone expects to see brand pop-ups now, a few are taking advantage of the places that get more foot traffic than anywhere else. The two biggest state fairs in the U.S. are in Texas and Minnesota, which each attract roughly 2M visitors over two to three weeks. Brands like e.l.f., GEICO, Levi’s, and more are carefully planning to get a piece of this exposure, but not with the exact same strategy they would at other events. Because they’re reaching a different, more diverse attendee audience, the brands work on fitting into the fair—like e.l.f. promoting their pickle-inspired products in Minnesota, where pickle chips are eaten by the millions. The fairs are attracting influencers, too, who come out for brands, food, and are sometimes invited by the state tourism departments themselves.(Modern Retail)
