Gen Z makes more late-night impulse purchases than other gens. Between social media-fueled trends and deals on platforms like SHEIN and Amazon, late-night doomscrolling can quickly turn into an unexpected shopping spree. While many Americans make unplanned purchases late at night, no one does it quite like Gen Z. A new CouponFollow survey shows 58% of Gen Z and 57% of Millennials make late-night impulse buys, compared to Gen X (46%) and Baby Boomers (47%). Gen Z also overspends more annually ($541 on average) than older gens ($373) on their late-night impulse buys. The gen spends most on clothing and accessories, followed by books, games and media, and food delivery and takeout. YPulse’s Finance / Spending Monitor report shows 53% of 18-24-year-olds have participated in impulse buying before. (WWD)
