Gen Alpha is interested in working blue-collar jobs when they grow up.

Jun 24 2026

Gen Alpha is interested in working blue-collar jobs when they grow up. According to new research, 5-16-year-olds are already thinking about their futures, with nearly 9 in 10 saying they want tactile, “hands-on” jobs in the future. (Kids still want to be firefighters and astronauts, not just influencers!) In addition, 90% of Gen Alpha say they want jobs where they can help people and 87% say they want to be creative. Among the kids polled, 68% admitted they knew what trade/blue-collar jobs are, with 88% of that group saying the career is important and 70% say they would be interested in having a trade or blue-collar job when they grow up. Parents are not shying away from talking to their kids about their futures, either: 90% of parents say they have already discussed different career opportunities with their child. (NY Post)
