Europe is soon to have Gen Z queens. Thanks to updated gender-neutral succession laws and a wave of throne changes coming in the near future, Belgium, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, and Sweden will all have Gen Z queens next. These aren’t generational cusp queens either—all are born after 2000. Experts predict this will be a gen of monarchy better connected with common people, as multiple have studied abroad, done military service for their country, or use social media, far unlike many rulers before them. They may also be more active in issues like climate change, gender inequality, and LGBTQ+ rights, which could reaffirm the monarchy’s constantly-in-question role. (Digital Journal)
