Tinder is (once again) announcing new features in a bid for Gen Z singles. With constant headlines about Gen Z’s dating app fatigue, the brands behind it are always looking to evolve to keep young people swiping. Tinder has hosted IRL events and integrated AI features before but are soon rolling out new iterations of both along with a virtual speed dating function. The new AI implementations will reportedly help find better matches with a “learning mode” and access to more user data (which sounds like a standard dating app algorithm), as well as more safety screening. In addition to the events Tinder has sponsored or partnered on before, they’re planning to roll out a full “Events” feature to help users find IRL social spaces—aligning with young singles looking for connections that could turn into romance but aren’t pressured to from the start.
