Gen Z’s status symbol of 2026 is being offline. Vogue Business reports 67% of Americans long for the “pre-plugged-in” era and real status now comes from something money can’t buy: logging off. For Gen Z, constant posting has become “low-status” behavior. Many say someone who is always online signals they have nothing better going on. Celebrities who barely post generate more buzz than those flooding feeds daily, too. (Like Zendaya, who only posted 5 times last year and all were about work.) The irony is that not being on others’ feeds only works if everyone pays attention to who is posting. But Gen Z pulling back from posting every moment also signals a value on privacy that feels reserved only for those with important things going on in secret. (PureWow)
