Wellness supplements are getting a Gen Z rebrand, swapping pills for stickers. Like the pimple patches that became a beauty staple, brands are releasing wellness patches in bright colors with cute icons—like dusty blue for sleep and electric yellow for energy. Unfortunately, the science behind them is questionable, and the FDA doesn’t regulate any of it yet. Some small ingredients like caffeine can pass through skin, but delivering compounds like B12 or zinc through patches hasn’t been proven effective. But sociologists note wellness has shifted from private self-care to a “visible and socially sanctioned” performance. For young consumers, a $15 pack of focus patches becomes both an accessory and an advertisement of self-improvement, transforming wellness from something they swallow in secret to content they proudly post.
