Refurbished tech is the new flex for European Gen Z. A new Vodafone Institute study shows Gen Z is driving Europe’s move toward refurbished smartphones and redefining what “new” means in tech, making refurbished devices a badge of responsibility and smart spending in Europe’s digital future. Across France, Spain, U.K., Sweden, and Germany, 37% of Gen Z said they’ve bought a refurbished device, compared to just 18% of Boomers. Even more telling, 81% of those who’ve tried refurbished plan to do so again, signaling growing loyalty to sustainable tech. France leads the charge with 38% adoption among Gen Z, while Germany lags at 25%. Gen Z is also the most proactive about repairs, with 33% having fixed a phone, versus only 8% of Boomers.
