Our political survey showed that in November, 35% of 18-34-year-olds said they would vote for Bernie Sanders if the election were held the next day. Some may wonder why this white-haired Boomer socialist is so appealing to Millennials, but their experience with capitalism during their formative years might be spurring this new wave socialism. The generation experienced the crash of 2008 when they were entering the job market, and has seen free market capitalism blamed for the vast income inequalities of the 1% versus the 99%, making Sanders’s message more likely to resonate.
