Young professionals on TikTok are upset with a job posting from “one of fashion’s most popular podcasts.” Last week, Recho Omondi’s podcast, The Cutting Room Floor, posted a job listing for an Office Coordinator based in NYC, offering a salary of $55K (pre-tax) with no benefits included. The full-time role, combining “the responsibilities of a bookings administrator and studio coordinator” while also serving as a personal assistant to Omondi, is causing an uproar among young professionals and fans of the company. YPulse’s Employment and Career Goals Report shows 86% of young employees believe they deserve to make more money—so it’s no surprise that many are upset with the role’s low salary, especially one that’s “basically three jobs.” One person commented on Omondi’s TikTok describing the role, saying it’s “borderline exploitation at this point.” Still, Omondi says she’s received over 800 applications for the job, but she’s since removed the posting, saying her team needs to do some wok internally, and she doesn’t want the backlash to affect the person who takes the role.
