Roku just launched Howdy, a low-cost, ad-free streaming service. Priced at $3 per month, it offers tons of familiar TV shows and movies from studios like Warner Bros. and Lionsgateβ€”no originals, no ads, just simple streaming. Available only on Roku devices for now, the brand says Howdy is meant to supplement, not replace, bigger platforms. And the timing makes sense: YPulse data shows 13-39-year-olds use an average of three streaming services weekly, and most are willing to pay for a new one if their favorite show moves. AndΒ with 78% saying streaming prices are too high and 55% canceling subscriptions to cut costs, Roku is betting a cheap, wide-spanning option without ads will stand out. (USA Today)
