Gen Z now prefers hybrid roles over exclusively remote work.

Gen Z now prefers hybrid roles over exclusively remote work. Gallup’s May 2025 findings reveal that only 23% of remote-capable Gen Z workers want to be fully remote, compared to 35% of older generations. While most hybrid Gen Z workers enjoy the current flexibility of hybrid setups, they’re also the most likely to say they wish their coworkers were in the office more often. Loneliness could be part of the reason—Gen Z reports feeling more isolated than any other generation, and many end up in the office on days when no one else is around. Even though 37% say they’re most productive while working remotely, nearly as many feel they work best on-site (32%) or say the location doesn’t matter (31%). For employers, coordinating teams’ in-office time could make hybrid work more meaningful for younger employees. (Gallup)
