Britain wants to increase awareness of military careers in schools. The Strategic Defence Review, backed by Prime Minister Keir Starmer, says in order to increase the country’s readiness for a possible conflict with Russia or another enemy, there needs to be a widespread awareness of defense within “the whole of society.” In turn, they’re working with the Department of Education to increase awareness of miliary careers in schools. Although they’re still working on how to do so without changing the curriculum, their overall goal is to increase recruitment to the cadet forces, including reserves and regular Armed Forces, by 30% by 2030. They’re even planning to offer high school graduates a paid gap year with the military before going to college. Ultimately, Britain wants to “inspire future defence personnel” and foster a deeper understanding of the Armed Forces among young people. (The i Paper)
