Why are young men are shaving off their eyelashes?

Jun 09 2025

Why are young men shaving off their eyelashes? In online spaces shaped by the manosphere and hypermasculine ideals, some young boys are picking up strange beauty habits, which now includes eyelash shaving to distance themselves from anything deemed as feminine. This trend, and others like jawline “mewing,” aren’t about being attractive to women so much as impressing other men, and experts say this is often fueled by a mix of insecurity and misogyny. Ironically, while the goal is self-improvement, many young men are ending up in the same place women have been for years—feeling anxious about their looks and chasing unrealistic body ideals. YPulse’s brand new Trad Wives and Alpha Males report shows 29% of 13-24-year-olds watch alpha male content, including “looksmaxxing,” where users try to maximize their attractiveness, so this trend may not be dying down anytime soon. (Vox)

🔍 YPulse predicted: In 2025, young men will get more into viral “wellness” and aesthetic trends
