Gen Alpha’s dream career? Being a content creator.

May 01 2025

Gen Alpha’s dream career? Being a content creator. Influencer culture has completely reshaped tweens’ career goals, with Whop’s 2024 survey revealing that 32% of 12-15-year-olds want to be YouTubers and 21% want to be TikTok creators. YPulse data confirms that more than half (53%) of 8-12-year-olds want to be content creators. It’s clear this generation sees digital platforms not just as entertainment, but as a career path, especially since they grew up watching creators like MrBeast and Charli D’Amelio turn vlogs into million-dollar brands. But it’s not just vlogging that inspires them; 19% of Gen Alpha kids say they want to develop video games, giving a new meaning to what creativity looks like in a digital age. Growing up immersed in tech and obsessed with games like Minecraft and Fortnite, creativity means coding, designing digital worlds, and turning to gameplay as a dream career. Traditional roles like becoming doctors or teachers still have appeal, but for Gen Alpha, the internet is where the real dream jobs live. (Fortune)
