Gen Z is the most neurodiverse generation yet—and employers need to adapt.

Mar 19 2025

Gen Z is the most neurodiverse generation yet—and employers need to adapt. Nearly 50% of the gen identify as neurodiverse (brain functions, cognitive processes, and behaviors differ from what is considered “neurotypical,” according to Business Wire), which could actually create a huge opportunity for businesses. Research shows that neurodivergent individuals often excel in problem-solving, creativity, and out-of-the-box thinking, making them especially strong in fields like AI, cybersecurity, and engineering. Some companies have already launched “neurodiversity hiring initiatives,” like JPMorgan Chase’s Autism at Work program, to support these workers. However, many still struggle working in offices that aren’t built for them; to thrive, they need flexible, sensory-friendly environments, and work structures that accommodate their different thinking and communication styles.
