Disney princesses can have as much of an effect on boys as girls. A study analyzing Disney princess culture’s impact on preschoolers found that over the course of a year both sexes showed higher “female-stereotypical behavior”—but in different forms. Girls showed a potential for “problematic behavior,” as they shifted to more “girly” things, seeking toys that stereotypically fit their gender. For boys however, interests became more “balanced” as a result of princess-exposure, and they showed more “prosocial behavior,” choosing to share more and help their peers at school. (National Post)
