The kids aren’t just alright—they’re smoking, drinking, and using drugs less than ever before.

The kids aren’t just alright—they’re smoking, drinking, and using drugs less than ever before. The annual Monitoring the Future survey revealed that the use of illicit drugs, other than marijuana, among eighth, 10th, and 12th graders has dropped from “recent peaks” over the past year, and alcohol and nicotine usage is at the “lowest ever seen.” Although e-cigarette usage has also declined among seniors from last year, the gateway drug into traditional cigarettes still remains a concern: last month 12.5% of 12th graders were using vaporizers.
