Is there room for two kinds of beloved plastic playthings on the big screen? Playmobil certainly hopes so. The longstanding German toy line is the being turned into an $80 million animated movie, following in Lego’s footsteps. The film will be introduced at the Toronto film festival this week, with rumors that a U.S. studio will be bringing it to theaters in 2017—likely the same weekend a Lego sequel hits box offices.
