According to a Ypulse monthly survey, teens send and receive an average of 89 texts a day. All this texting can have negative impacts. According to new research, compulsive texters have a lot in common with compulsive gamblers, and teen girls who compulsively text can have a lower academic performance. One psychologist says the issue has to do with attention spans: “If you’re constantly checking your phone, how are you going to study for school?” (NYTimes)
