OpenAI may be facing its first lawsuit in the U.K. after failed partnership plans with the parenting forum, Mumsnet. Earlier this year, Mumsnet discovered that AI companies were scrapping their large user-generated content database and sought a partnership with OpenAI to facilitate the process. However, OpenAI unexpectedly backed out at the last moment, citing that Mumsnet’s database was β€œtoo small.” As a result, OpenAI now faces the possibility of its first copyright infringement lawsuit in the U.K. Mumsnet is pursuing not just copyright claims but alleges breaches of its terms of use and database rights infringement.
