If you believe the story that Gen Z just isn’t drinking (and they’re killing the alcohol industry in turn), the next question is: What are they doing instead? Young adults always have something unhealthy in their routine. And it’s partially true that drinking isn’t the big vice for this gen—though, they do still drink. Instead, they’ve picked up habits Millennials and older gens weren’t doing at this age; different forms of smoking, different drugs, and of course, a lot more social media. But they’ve also turned less risky indulgences into a treat of sorts—Diet Coke break, anyone?
