Plumbing and electrical jobs are becoming highly sought-after by Gen Z. Increasing wages and advancements in technology in industries such as welding and machine operating are transforming trade professions. Enrollment in vocational-focused community colleges increased by 16% last year, with a 23% rise in students studying construction trades. The increase of artificial intelligence has made young people express growing interest in hands-on or physical work opposed to sitting behind a computer screen all day. Despite careers in professions requiring a college education typically indicating higher earnings in the long run, the attractiveness of working in trades can be compelling compared to attending a four-year university.
