Millennials may regret leaving big cities behind in favor of the suburbs. Data from the National Association of Realtors shows many 31-40-year-olds left big cities for less costly homes in 2020-2021 but are now facing the regret of leaving behind the social and professional groups they cultivated. Alex Gatien, a 38-year-old who relocated from Toronto to a quiet town, purchased a spacious four-bedroom home with a large yard for less than the price of a studio in Toronto. While he appreciates the lower cost of living, Gatien laments what he had to give up in the move. Additionally, he feels that people in his new town live a more isolated lifestyle—and that public spaces are less used (showing Millennials have a third space issue as much as Gen Z). YPulse data shows three in 10 young people say they often / always feel lonely, with Millennials being slightly more likely to say so than Gen Z. (Business Insider)
