Young Europeans are worried about the world, but optimistic about their own futures. A November Eurobarometer survey shows many young Europeans are caught between feeling global anxiety and having a positive outlook on life—at least for themselves. When it comes to the EU, security and defence top young Europeans’ list of concerns, with 40% of respondents saying these areas need strengthening and 66% wanting the EU to better protect its citizens. They also say day-to-day fears around inflation, rising prices, and the economy are never far from their minds. Plus, it’s coupled with fears about disinformation (69% are “highly concerned”) and global instability, with many feeling pessimistic about the world at large. But, not all hope is lost to them. Young people are hopeful on a personal level—76% say they feel optimistic about their own future and that of their families. (eunews)
