Corporate America is losing some of its young talent to in-home service roles.

Nov 13 2025

Corporate America is losing some of its young talent to in-home service roles. A Business Insider report found that young people with degrees (even PhDs) are ditching white-collar jobs to become nannies, personal chefs, and executive assistants for ultra-wealthy families. The shift tracks with a massive boom in private staffing: there are now 3K+ billionaires globally, each employing “small armies” to manage their estates, yachts, and multiple homes. And with higher pay than entry-level corporate roles—salaries often range from $150K to $280K—global travel, and tangible daily impact, it beats navigating an unstable white-collar ladder. Sure, there are strict NDAs, 24/7 availability, and the occasional dog cleanup without thanks. But for a generation facing mass layoffs and an unstable job market, the appeal is obvious.
